On the roofs, the Assayag does not end all at once. Each tower finishes in a crown — the “little villas” described by the Gazette de l’Électricité in 1935 — and all around, parapets and terraces step down in tiers.
One evening in January 2025, the sun sets behind the city, beside a crown pierced by an opening. In February 2026, under a grey sky, one walks along parapets covered in lichen, openwork balustrades, aerials and satellite dishes; further down, a terrace with a red floor.
The tops still bore the marks of time: cracks in the render, patches, plank boxes. Those were the days when the work on the tops began — the album of the works keeps a record of it.
